A CT KUB (Computed Tomography of Kidneys, Ureters, and Bladder) scan is a non-invasive procedure that uses CT technology to take images of the urinary system. It's often used to diagnose conditions like:
Kidney stones
Causes of flank pain
Pain in the abdomen or back
Blood in urine
Urinary tract infections
Urolithiasis
The Procedure takes approximately 10-15 minutes and is generally well tolerated by patients. It is important to remain still during the scanning process in order to avoid blurring of the images.
4 hour fasting. (nothing to eat or drink) 15 minutes before your scan, you will be asked to drink 500ml of water. Depending on your symptoms, you may or may not need to have contrast injection.
here is no preparation required for a CT KUB scan. However, you should remove all jewelry and metal objects from the area to be scanned. If you are pregnant, you should inform a member of staff before the test
